Who is Kerry Love?
I was the little girl who used a flashlight to read underneath the covers long past bedtime, who wrote poetry for fun, and who had a group of friends waiting at the school lunch table for the next pages of the story.
That little girl has grown into a woman of many hats (or sunglasses) including author, teacher, artist, yogi, tarot reader, and stroke-survivor. I currently offer creative medicine through online readings and consultations, or through courses at CU Boulder where you can find me in the basement of the biology building trying to find my classroom. Or wandering around the trail in my neighborhood looking at birds and stars.
But what do others have to say about me?

NOT FINE
Not Fine is a collection of poetry that has been described as "a gift for the soul" and "deep yet so accessible."
Not Fine was the number one new release in Nature Poetry, beating out Emily Dickinson (who has been dead for 136 years).
BY CHANCE
By Chance is a delightful and sexy romantic comedy about what happens when movie star, Todd Allman, ends up in professor Beth Grant's writing class. It's been described as a "fun, tantalizing read" and "a hot and steamy love story with believable characters." By Chance is full of heart, humor, and sexy fun. Because the kiss is just the beginning. (This book is intended for mature audiences.)
Good writing gives you back a piece of yourself.

Art
I have always loved Advent calendars for their promise of a hidden daily treat. In 2021, I created Hardy Heart (Hearty) and my first advent calendar. In 2022, Hearty was joined by Doc as a way for me to deal with the grief of losing my companion of 14+ years. You can see the entire collection (including pictures and videos of Doc, and more of his wisdom) on Instagram.
Research
When I was 28, I had a massive stroke due to blood clots caused by the birth control pill. Since then, I have researched and written extensively about health issues related to synthetic hormones. My thesis Women, Birth Control Pills, and Thrombophilia: An Analysis of Risk Communication (May 2009) has been downloaded more than 3,000 times by readers around the world.
Below are some of my articles for Hormones Matter about the real risks of hormonal contraception. You can find the rest here.
Stroke, Birth Control and the Nelson Pill Hearings: What They Knew Then
...putting women on birth control pills was (and I would say, still is) a MASSIVE experiment with millions of healthy women.
Being a Feminist: Hormonal Birth Control Not Required
“How many adult males would be willing to take an oral contraceptive faithfully if they were told that instead of a possible 50-plus adverse side reaction only one remained, that being the possible loss of sex drive and libido?” How many indeed.
Contraception is a very personal choice. I believe all women should research the risks associated with using hormonal contraception, but especially if you experience any of the health conditions above.
What Others Say...
“Professor Love, thank you so much. Your energy doesn't go unnoticed and you've changed my life and the lives of many others... the world is truly a better place with you in it.”
— A student
“You are not normal. That’s what I love about you. You are a question mark wrapped up in an enigma riding a dolphin swimming with unicorns.”
— My (chosen) brother
"At times it felt as if the author tapped into a collective experience that is hard to put into words but she did it so eloquently. I was near tears in the "Not Fine" section because the real and raw truth is painful in the best way possible."
— A reviewer
“You’re a really good time when you’re not being bitchy.”
— My mom
"Kerry beautifully captures the joys, challenges, perplexities, and heartaches so many of us face daily, particularly women living in a world seemingly run by men, in words so clever you will be in awe of how she did it (I know I am)."
— A reviewer
“You’re one hundred percent worth it. You’re also a pain in the ass.”
— My ex
“...I absolutely loved being a part of your class... I felt so inspired by the person you are...”
